Speech-to-text and BSL Tour: Beyond the Bassline

Join us as we take you on a speech-to-text and BSL tour of our latest exhibition, Beyond the Bassline: 500 Years of Black British Music. This tour is suitable for visitors who are D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.

On this tour you will be guided through the exhibition by a curator and explore how, for centuries, Black communities have created music in the UK, melding global influences into a Black British sound that has echoed through generations.

Beyond the Bassline documents a 500-year musical journey of the Black diaspora in the UK. Drawing on multiple streams of Black experience, we explore the people, places and genres that have formed a British soundtrack.

The curator will provide an overview of the exhibition and focus in on a number of highlights on display. Live speech-to-text transcription will be provided by Stagetext and a BSL interpreter will be present. One free ticket for a companion is available per visitor. Please book a ticket for each person attending. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.

If you require any other access support please contact us on outreach@bl.uk.

Ticket holders should meet at the Information Desk in the Main Entrance 15 minutes before the start time.
